Reducing Retirement Age for central government employees from 1/1/2016 -The Right Way

The attention of all central government employees is on the 7th Pay commission which is going to be implemented on 1/1/2016. We come to hear that the meetings convened to know the demands of the employee federations of various departments have come to an end and in the month of August, the commission is going to submit its recommendations to the government.

When all this is happening on one side, there is an unknown sense of fear and unease in the minds of the central government employees. The reason for this is the thought that there might a change in the retirement age of employees. Will the retirement age be reduced? Nobody could stop this question from arising in the minds of employees. Even when the government has clearly announced that the retirement age will not be reduced, there is still doubt and confusion in the minds of the employees.

Nation's economic growth; employment for youth and the increase of work efficiency in offices and factories thereby can happen but at the same time thousands of employee families will be very adversely affected.

In order to repay: the housing loan installment applied with the desire of owning a house, the loan arranged for children's betterment, the money owed due to marriage expenses, the employees would have considered their service period as extending up to the age of 60. When the retirement age is suddenly reduced, the consequences appear unthinkably terrifying.

Everybody really accepts that graduated and unemployed youth should be given jobs. No doubt, in a country like ours which has lakhs of unemployed youth, a reduction of retirement age will be desirable.

Considering the future of India, a new pension scheme was introduced and is in force now for the employees who joined after 1/1/2004, like this for those who join employment after a certain date (for example, from 1.1.2016), the retirement age can be reduced from 60 to 58 or even to 56. Nobody will be affected due to this. Those who join service, will know their retirement age well before and so will make their future plans accordingly. Due to this method, there is no problem for the employees who are in service presently. Also, the new employees will not be affected. If the government has plans of reducing retirement age this can be a suitable solution.

certainly age should be reduce to 55 or below since all young ,energetic, dynamics, talented, highly qualified educated, Indian youth are in search of job opportunity in any sector they are ready to work anywhere and any condition even with less salary,in this circumstances if the vacancy is not there how these youth will get job.Govt should think about young Indians who are future India when they will get chance to serve for India. experienced and whose service is very much essential in the real interest of any organisation such Old people can be guide or can be engage as a consultant or guide this option is radially available with any organisation or Govt. But Age should be certainly reduce to 55 or even less in the interest of young Indians who are standing in an upended queue.

where are the vacancies for youngsters if one or two by chance are available all will be occupied by somebody's relatives or by corruption, hence at present there are no chance to get job for young Indians . Yes young ,energetic, dynamics, talented, highly qualified educated, Indian youth are in search of job opportunity in any sector they are ready to work anywhere and any condition even with less salary once they are getting job in India why they will go outside India, all young Indians are future responsible Indians.when they will get job experience since all opportunities are occupied . at present.Youngsters are having very less jobs since the rate of retirement and the posts are very less in INDIA ,in India by chance they got job , they are not allowed to work with their efficiency ,since they have to match with old people attitude and mentality so that even they dont have the the power even to think on there on own.NOBODY WANTS TO LEAVE THEIR OWN COUNTRY WHERE THEY ARE BORN IN COUNTRY LIKE INDIA,IF DIRTY POLITICS and corruption is cleaned there is no country like India in this whole world
age should be reduce to even to 50 in interest of YOUNG INDIA.

sir, lot of employees are in the plan to retire at the age of sixty years.they plans every thing accordingly.if suddenly govt reduces retirement limit definitely it will effect badly who are not prepared for this.so, my intention is,instead of reducing the age limit let govt introduce the vrs to the employees, and in future give time to the old employees to retire in the age of 60.and give minimum of 5 years of time after the implementation of seventh pay commission. m.muralidhar air dharwad

The retirement age should be increased rather than decreasing it. Life span of an individual has increased and it gets very difficult for old age employees to manage their health with a meager pension amount. Moreover, age for applying for govt jobs should also be increased. This would be beneficial for young as well as old people.

Certainly the retirement age must be reduced to 55 or 56 years or 33 years of service whichever is earlier. Suitable compensation may be given for the balance years of service for those who are retiring as done in VRS. Also it may be ensured that hence forth all appointments for the younger generation shall be done through ON-line appointment system i.e including receiving application, conducting test and interview etc. for transparency and eliminating political interference and corrupt practices. This surely justifies the cause for reducing the retirement age and to help the so far unemployed younger generation.

sudden reducing the age of retirement to 55 years or 33 years of service may pose some serious problems to those who have to repay the loan amount taken for various reasons. But considering the overall facts and present situation of unemployed highly qualified and talented youths, it is high time and better to take some hard decision and reducing the retirement age. However to overcome the fear of loan repayment taken for various reasons by the employees due to sudden retirement at 55 years or 33 years, a suitable solution may be worked out like compensating monetarily for the balance year of service like done in VRS. Since Younger generations are much more smarter, energetic and technically advanced it is the right time to give them the opportunity to get employed and allow them to show their talents. And government cannot continue with the present system of 60 years out of fear to disburse large amount of money/ pensionery benefits if suddenly reduced to 33 years. In fact the government is benefited by reducing the age to 33 years of service since the new employee will be drawing salary at least 3 -4 times lesser salary compared to employee of 33 years of service.

It is high time when we rise above our personal interests and think for the nation. Difficulties will be faced by the people retiring a little early but atleast this much should be least contribution from a citizen towards the growth of his country. If he can manage so many things in life why is he worrying about repayment of loans. If we want to develop this nation everybody should contribute their bit. It is a welcome measure which the Government is taking.

Let the government reduce the age of retirement to atleast 58 years, so that some young blood can enter in to government sector. Also, if an employee after putting around 30 years in government service could not manage his/her finance, what great change going to happen during next 2-3 years of service? If the government reduce the retirement age, young people will definitely appreciate the government.

Retirement age has to be reduced. As a solution to the sudden reducing the age to 33 years of service or 55 years whichever is earlier, the government may consider implementing reducing the retirement period gradually say, initially 35 years of service or 58 years (whichever is earlier) from the year Dec'2016 and further to 34 year or 56 years (which ever is earlier) from Dec'2017 and 33 years of service or 55 years (whichever is earlier) from 2018 onwards. For the above period suitable compensation may be given for the balance year of service. But in any way the retirement age has to be brought down in the interest of younger talented youths and in National interest.

There is an urgent need of increasing retirement age to 65 years from the present 60 years or atleast 62.Most of the States have given a nod for 65 years as retirement age(eg uttar pradesh)at state level .The retirement age of 60 was fixed decades ago .Now the time has changed life expectancy has changed a move of increasing the retirement age would not only bring happiness in lives of central govt employees but also save funds which can be used for better prospects by the govt. Most knowledgeable, fit, mature and experienced employees retire at just 60 still when they want to work...it is an alarming situation dopt should immediately take actions regarding this.

Many of the young india don't know how much vacancies are there in different Govt deptt/organisation.These vacanices have not been filled up yet.You may be aware that many govt departments time and again has shown their inability to perform allotted work for want of workforce and thus not fulfilling the obligation to the citizens.[Recent episode-in Delhi where there is staff crunch for carrying out malaria special drive][In army there is shortage of officers,JCOs etc]
Let the govt start with filling those vacant posts with young and energetic India. There is approximate 45 lacs CG Employees .And hardly 1.5 or 2 lakh or say 3 lakhs employees would be above say 55 years of age. I dont have the figure of un employed youths yet against these 3 lakhs only 3 lacs or with 10% cut only 2.7 lac can be recruited or not ,God knows. The older employees are neither burden to the govt nor to the society. Those who are not performfing ,they are being shunted out [refer recent article for compulsory retirement]

If the govt is really interested in employment of for youth, the should stop all contracrtual/ guest/ ad-hoc emploment and give jobs on regular basis. It is not true that there are no vacancy, it is policy of government to not fill vacancies. Tehe are lacs of vacancies for teachers in government sector but govt is not recruiting so our educated youth is being expoited . They arte compelled to work for even 20% or less salary then govt salary. Reduction in age of retirement have many adverse effects, like if all 55/58 year old are retired on one day there will be at least 40% staff shortage. Recruitment take about 2 years how this gap will be filled ? Secondly , on retirement every employee is paid lacs of Rupees as Gratuity, Commutation of pension, leave encashment, GPF etc., if all 40% are retired on one day, a very very huge ammount of money will be required to settle thier claims.

Existing employee may like to continue in their chair till 100 years of age. But, the young children of their own are striving for employment. Why this selfishness? Let the youngsters also live life peacefully for some 20-30 years. At the same time, the new generation should avoid corruption in public life and give fine output in their sphere of job.

India Government campaigning for is "sach bharat".
But India Government itself is an unjustified and idiot.Because -

( 1 ) The Goverment is paying out huge salary to Government Employess both at central and state level BUT The Government does not have any initiative for the existing highly qualified young generation to provide service at Government Department.
( 2 ) If Idia Government thinks that India means India Government employees and the increase allowance and D.A. to them , then what is the need of election and votes ?
( 3 ) Do India Government has rhought ever that while the Govt. is paying out Rs.50,000 pesion per month to a government employee , then what will the people lying at proverty level and the general people who donot have Government like wonderful secured job will earn and how will carry their livlyhood ? Should there be any existence of India and India Government while its "Mitti" does not provide the minimum requirement of people and biased to Govt. employees only ?
( 4 ) India Government should change its constituion and reject all the employment contract made at the time of recruting Govt. employees and should reduce the salary , D.A. and all allowances that will result to decrease the foreign deficit.
( 5 ) Where is the need of higher studies in India while both Central and state level Government make jobs open for class Eight pass and Class 10 pass. Amazing India !
( 6 ) Unproductive Goverment Employees should be retrenched . Government employees working at Government offices and department , salary should be 30 to 40 percent reduced on existing salary otherwise india will prove that it is a meaningless country with huge low paid private and highly educated young jobless persons in society.

thanks,
